Uttari Betta, 90 kms from Bangalore and one of the good treks of Karnataka. The landscape is full of greenary and beauty. A hike of 5 kms will experience you a village, a jungle, a grassland, a temple top, fort history and a cave. A very very narrow cave!
Trekkers usually divide this journey into two parts; First half of the journey contains, Passing through a small village, Entering in a Fort wall and Seven doors of stone which takes you to a small temple called Shankareshwar temple. And the second half of the journey contains, Crossing a small jungle, a lush green grassland and further a narrow cave to reach to the topmost. The view from the topmost is worth of your hardwork to reach there.
Towards First Half |
We started our trek in morning around 8:00 AM from a small village of Uttari dhruva. Crossing that village we all gathered at a place before starting to climb. Our trek guide briefed about the tweaks and turns of the trek and asked us to keep drinking water and having energy bars in between the trek to remain hydrated and avoid fatigue.
Now we started climbing to meet the fort wall and cross our first stone door. As we were passing through the doors I was wondering if we are a part our childhood TV show 'Legends of the hidden temple' on Nickelodeon, If you have seen! :p
Among the 7 Doors |
Treks are not only good for our physical health but good for our mental and social health as well. You have to be very focused and careful before putting each and every step. And once you finish with a trek you are full of confidence, strength, focus, peace, enthusiasm, composer..Oh! And yeah new friends :)
Then slowly with everybody's pace we finished our first half and reached to the Shankareshwar temple where we took some rest, had some energy drinks and simply took each other's pictures. The temple wasn't even like a real temple. It was looked to me like an old structure of stone.
Shankareshwar Temple |
Here, when you walk in a jungle always look carefully before walking and touching anything coz eventually you would not want to step on a snake or insect to bite you! Jungle surroundings require a bit more focus. In the last trek of mine in a forest I was captured some infection by an insect sting on my arm. I remember I couldn't even move my arm properly for a week. So, better take care of such little unfriendly creatures. Don't harm them, Just walk away.
Grassland |
In the grassland of fully grown grass you can hardly see where to go? Thats why we walk in a trail, one after the other, following each other. The first one will obviously the guide!
After carefully climbing through the rocks you will be few more kms to reach the top-most.
By the time we reach here it was already 1:00 PM and people wanted to sit and take some rest here as they were climbing for quite a long. So, we all took some rest there. People glaring at nature from that height, Photographers waiting for a good shot, Group of friends taking selfies and having fun, An adventurous couple sitting a side feeling the warmth in nature and expressing love without words, Passionate professional trekkers who had already done more than 100-200 treks chatting and sharing their past experiences..It always feels good to silently observe your surroundings.
Now it was the time to move. We started climbing further. Here I was personally unaware about the cave. As soon as we reach the top, we have to cross a big rock to reach the top most and this is where the cave came into picture.
Cave |
Once you achieved to come out of that cave then Bingo! You are on the top most of the hill.
Oh! I can't even explain how beautiful does it look on the other end. Its a feeling of being on the "Top of the World"....... ;)
No, seriously it is very nice!
